The Indiana Department of Health has granted Hancock Regional Hospital Level II certification in obstetrics and neonatal care. This means that our specialized nursery with a dedicated 24/7 team allows mothers and babies who need a higher level of care to be treated close to home and have a reduced likelihood of transfer.
What Does “Level II” Mean?
A Level II hospital is equipped to care for mothers with complex pregnancies and moderately ill infants and babies born as early as 32 weeks’ gestation. Level II nurseries are designed for babies who may need specialized care and a network of specialists, but whose complications are expected to resolve quickly.
In partnership with Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital (PMCH) at Ascension St. Vincent, Hancock Health has built a strong obstetric, neonatal, and specialist team that provides an advanced level of newborn care. Our experienced staff of nurses provide bedside care and treatment assistance 24/7 with the support of specially trained neonatal nurse practitioners (NNPs) from PMCH.
